Salt of the Earth Restaurant Location: Pittsburgh, PA Status: Construction completed 2010 Size: 3,800sf
Built as the first Harley-Davidson showroom in Pittsburgh, this 7,800 sf structure was divided into two commercial spaces and the front 3,800 sf space was converted into a two story restaurant. Cruze Architects served as owner/developer, architect and contractor, rebuilding the façade to reflect its original design and the new build out of the restaurant space, including utility upgrades and major structural additions to accommodate the new mezzanine. The design developed in response to the chef's wish list of open kitchen, communal tables, and no menus, and resulted in many custom designs including white oak refectory dining tables and stools, a slate chalkboard wall, and stainless steel bathroom sinks.
